Fruits Basket OC: Megumi Sohma

I've always loved this series, the manga and anime are so cute! Granted there are some pretty dark bits, but it was mostly very cute and sweet! I've had this idea for an OC for a while but I never got around to it. So, here she is!

Name: Megumi Sohma (her first name means 'Blessing' in japanese)

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Eyes: Green

Hair: Very light blonde, almost white

Pairing: YukixMegumi

Year born in: Dog (she was born in the year but obviously she doesn't transform)

Favorite foods: Sweets, Ramen, Omelets, and italian food.

Least favorite Foods: Cabbage, tuna fish (she doesn't like the smell)

Personality: Kind, very gentle, always puts others before herself, tries hard to be "a good girl", and outgoing.

Likes: Bright colors, spring, cherry blossoms, cute fuzzy animals, and manga.

Fears: Spiders, being alone in a dark room, Ren Sohma, and Akito (to an extent)

Backstory: Megumi was the second child of Akito's father Akira and Yukiko Sohma. Since the maids and most people of the Sohma family aren't very fond of Ren, they had Yukiko become a "public wife". Whenever he was to be seen in public, Yukiko would be there beside him. Another reason as to why Yukiko was chosen was because she had the title "Mother of the Zodiac". Basically the title is exactly what she was, she was the only woman who wasn't cursed who could hold the members of the zodiac. However, there was a physical side effect to being the "mother of the zodiac", Yukiko was unable to have children of her own. So Yukiko was married to Akira, but was only used for the cursed members of the zodiac and to be seen in public with Akira when ever he was able to and Ren would provide the heir. However, Ren was always jealous of Yukiko. Yukiko always had feelings though for Kazuma Sohma (Kyo's teacher) since the two grew up together.

But we will get more into Yukiko later. How ever, with her condition, about two weeks after Akira died, Yukiko found herself pregnant. Everyone made a huge deal at the news and Yukiko was under constant surveillance and delivered Megumi. Everyone celebrated the birth of Megumi since Yukiko was expected to never have children. She was born with her mother's green eyes and her father's pale blonde hair. She was a very cheerful and fairly carefree child and seeing as who her mother was, she was allowed to be at the banquet sitting beside her mother but did not participate in any dancing or other activities. Megumi doesn't know that Akito is really a girl so she always referred to Akito as "Akito-Nii" or when she was a chill "Nii-chan". Megumi for a while was thought to possibly be the next mother, but that was later disproved when she accidentally caused Hatori to transform by hugging him when she was small. But Ren always detested Yukiko and Megumi with almost a passion. Megumi was very close to Yuki since they lived in the main house together, and for a while Akito was gentler towards her than the others since Akito always looked up to Yukiko as a real mother. Megumi also got along really well with other members of the zodiac and things seemed to be warm and gentle.

However, when Megumi was the age of ten, Yukiko and Ren got into an intense argument, seeing as the two never got along, and eventually Ren lost it and shoved Yukiko. Due to the force of the shove, Yukiko's head was slammed into the corner of a nearby table and was sent to the hospital where she slowly grew weak and into a coma. After a few days of being in a coma, Yukiko died and Megumi was practically left alone. She began being targeted by Ren, and even though Kazuma insisted on taking care of Megumi like he did with Kyo, the maids and other members of the Sohma family denied his request. Akito ordered Megumi to stay away from Ren and Megumi did her best to obey. But one day, Ren caught Megumi by herself and combed her hair, which was the same color of her birth father Akira. Ren complimented on her hair and knew that Akito was nearby and then left. About two minutes after Ren left Megumi, Akito lashed out at Megumi and sheared her hair, scratched her face, then shoved her out of a second story window at the main house, all the while calling her "a bad girl". Megumi was pretty badly injured but not as bad as other people would have thought, but the mental scars were pretty bad. So finally Kazuma took her under her care for about a year, until she was eleven, until her Aunt Azumi (Yukiko's older sister) and Uncle Hisao Sohma. She didn't go back to the main house at all and seemed to vanish off the face of the earth which devastated some members of the zodiac.

Then about 3 months after Tohru started living with Shigure, Yuki, and Kyo, Megumi transferred to their school because Akito was spotted near her old school, so she tried running away from Akito, but ended up finding Yuki and the others after so long. She was put into Tohru's class and she recognized Yuki and Kyo right away and they recognized her, but when lunch time came she ran out of the room and tried avoiding them for a while, due to her fear of Akito and Ren. She finally stopped after a while and got along very well with Tohru.
